Barite Group
  • Barite - BaSO , high specific gravity for a light-colored mineral 4.5 , pearly luster , H = 3 to 3.5 , tabular crystals , very white color
  • Celestite - SrSO , colorless to white generally with a blue tinge , specific gravity of 4 , fat tabular crystals , H = 3 to 3.5 , vitreous to pearly luster , 1 perfect and 1 good cleavage
  • Anglesite - PbSO , white to grey color , high specific gravity 6.2 to 6.4 , H = 3 , dull earthy luster , associated with galena , 1 good cleavage and conchoidal fracture



Gypsum Group

  • Gypsum - CaSO*2HO , colorless to grey or brown , tabular rhombohedral habit , swallowtail twins , vitreous to pearly or silky luster , 1 perfect cleavage
